"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
I spent most of my life viewing my pain and my struggles as something that disqualified me from life. Broken. Misunderstood. Empty. This is where "my why" grew from - never wanting anyone to feel like me; devoid of purpose. Sometimes you get so lost in the lies of the enemy - you're ugly, you're not good enough, you're life is worthless - it sweeps you away inside a cyclone, distorts your vision of who you are in Christ, leaving you blind and enveloped by darkness.
I have existed in this place. This project grew from that place; from the desire to flip on the switch and shine a light in the darkness; from the desire to empower and speak life into other women. Do you ever wonder why women speak so badly to themselves and to each other. What would happen if we united? If we replaced fear, jealousy and hate with confidence, encouragement, and love? If we began seeing ourselves the way Jesus sees us and then allowing that perspective to infiltrate all the other areas of our lives? It would be a game changer.
So this is what we set out to do. We wanted to kick the enemy in the butt and declare affirmations over each other and other women. We asked each person to seek what God says about them in an area of struggle. I AM ________ (and fill in the blank). It was important to write this on the body, JUST AS WE ARE. Raw authentic truth. The purpose: to redefine and realign with God; to shift from discouragement to confidence, from lies to truth.
My word: MASTERPIECE
Beauty resides in the imperfection; the imperfection creates the masterpiece.
All these pieces that make up who I am, they are gifts. Platforms that God gave me so that His light could shine in and thru me. I am not defined by one label, one chapter, one mistake or one accomplishment. All of my life makes up who I am (the good, the bad, the ugly), and the mud is not the mud. The mud is the masterpiece.
So I challenge you to ask yourself - what am I saying to myself? Do you truly know how lovely and beautiful you are? Just the way you are, right now, you are extraordinary.
